Job description

The Broadcast Product Owner & QA is responsible for defining, prioritising, and assuring the quality of broadcast graphics and data products that support live sports production and broadcast partners. The role leads the product lifecycle for the GGI broadcast graphics system and related products, translating stakeholder and operational needs into a clear product roadmap, well-defined requirements, and deliverable outcomes.
 
Working closely with engineering teams, broadcast operations, commercial stakeholders, and external partners, the Broadcast Product Owner & QA manages the product backlog, facilitates agile delivery processes, and ensures products meet the reliability, performance, and quality standards required for live broadcast environments. The role also leads product testing and quality assurance processes to ensure stable, accurate, and production-ready releases.

Job requirements

  • Experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, QA Lead, or similar role. 
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies. 
  • Experience managing product backlogs, roadmaps, and release planning. 
  • Proven ability to translate technical capabilities into product features. 
  • Experience developing and executing software testing strategies. 
  • Knowledge of manual and automated testing practices. 
  • Ability to define test plans, acceptance criteria, and validation processes. 
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on product reliability and quality. 
  • Understanding of software development processes and system architecture. 
  • Experience working with technical teams and complex software systems. 
  • Knowledge of APIs, data pipelines, or real-time systems is advantageous. 
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. 
  • Experience working with sports data or broadcast technology. 
  • Knowledge of live production workflows and graphics systems. 
  • Experience with data-driven products or real-time analytics platforms. 
  • Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar project management platforms. 
  • Interest and knowledge of sport and sports broadcasting. 

Job responsibilities

Product Ownership & Strategy
  • Define and communicate the product vision and roadmap for our broadcast graphics system GGI and related broadcast products. 
  • Translate business and stakeholder needs into product strategy, features, and deliverables. 
  • Work closely with leadership to align product development with commercial and operational goals. 
  • Monitor industry trends in broadcast graphics, sports data, AR visualization, and live production technology. 

 

Stakeholder Engagement 
  • Act as the primary interface between stakeholders, engineering, broadcast operators, and commercial teams. 
  • Gather and document product requirements through stakeholder interviews and operational feedback. 
  • Communicate product updates, timelines, and progress to internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Facilitate discussions to ensure alignment on product priorities and desired outcomes. 

 

Product Backlog & Delivery
  • Maintain and prioritise the product backlog in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Write clear user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure the development team has well-defined work ready for delivery.
  • Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Track product delivery against the roadmap and release plans.

 

Quality Assurance & Testing
  • Define and maintain product quality standards and testing frameworks. 
  • Lead QA planning and execution across product releases. 
  • Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria. 
  • Coordinate functional, integration, and regression testing across systems. 
  • Work closely with engineers to ensure issues are identified, tracked, and resolved effectively. 
Broadcast Product Reliability 
  • Ensure products meet the reliability and performance standards required for live broadcast environments. 
  • Validate data integrity, latency requirements, and system stability. 
  • Work with engineering and operations teams to identify risks and mitigate production issues. 
  • Support release readiness and operational deployment processes. 

 

User Research & Continuous Improvement 
  • Conduct user research with operators, producers, and broadcast partners to identify improvement opportunities. 
  • Analyse product usage and feedback to prioritise enhancements and optimisations. 
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, quality, and innovation. 

 

Cross-Team Collaboration
  • Collaborate with engineering, broadcast, graphics, and data teams to deliver integrated solutions. 
  • Work with commercial teams to support product launches, demonstrations, and client discussions. 
  • Contribute to documentation, training, and operational readiness for new product releases.
