Broadcast Project Manager

Job description

The Broadcast Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering broadcast technology and graphics projects that support live sports production and broadcast partners. The role ensures projects involving broadcast graphics systems, data integrations, graphics, and supporting software platforms are delivered on time, meet stakeholder requirements, and operate reliably in live broadcast environments. 
 
Working closely with product owners, software development teams, broadcast operations, and external stakeholders, the Broadcast Project Manager manages project timelines, risks, and communications while utilising Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence to track delivery and maintain project documentation. The role plays a key part in aligning technical teams, operational staff, and broadcast partners to ensure successful project delivery and continuous improvement across broadcast products and services. 

Job requirements

  • Extensive experience in requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation across multiple projects. 
  • Strong experience applying Agile methodologies and project management processes within software or technology environments. 
  • Experience acting as a proxy for the Product Owner, supporting backlog prioritisation and delivery decisions. 
  • Experience delivering broadcast or media technology projects, ideally within broadcast graphics, studio and sports environments 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, developers, and operational   teams. 
  • Excellent stakeholder and customer communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with broadcast operators, technical teams, and senior management. 
  • Experience developing and managing project plans, product roadmaps, and delivery backlogs. 
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing demands, and deliver outcomes within agreed timelines. 
  • Experience using Agile project management tools such as Jira and Confluence. 
  • Experience conducting stakeholder interviews, workshops, and user research to inform product and project   requirements. 
  • Ability to identify delivery risks and implement mitigation strategies. 
  • Experience supporting product launches and ongoing operational support of products and services. 
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to a range of   audiences. 
  • A keen interest and knowledge of sport, particularly within broadcast or data-driven environments, will be highly  regarded.

Job responsibilities

Requirements & Business Analysis 
  • Work with stakeholders to gather, validate, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into clear user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria. 
  • Analyse existing workflows and business processes to identify opportunities for efficiency and   improvement. 
  • Assess the impact, risks, and benefits of proposed solutions across technical and operational environments. 
  • Simplify complex technical concepts and communicate them clearly to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Assist with effort estimation and planning by working with technical teams to understand delivery   complexity. 
  • Maintain project documentation, specifications, and knowledge resources in Confluence.

 

Project Planning & Delivery
  • Plan and manage the successful delivery of broadcast technology, graphics and software projects. 
  • Define project scope, timelines, milestones, and deliverables. 
  • Track project progress, risks, and dependencies using Jira. 
  • Ensure development work is clearly prioritised and aligned with stakeholder objectives. 
  • Manage changes to scope, priorities, and   delivery timelines in collaboration with stakeholders. 
  • Coordinate delivery across multiple teams including development, broadcast operations, design, and data   teams. 
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, meet agreed requirements, and maintain a high level of quality.

 

Stakeholder Communication
  • Act as a key liaison between technical teams, operational teams, design teams and business stakeholders. 
  • Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and key milestones. 
  • Facilitate discussions to clarify requirements and ensure alignment between stakeholders and development   teams. 
  • Present project progress, demonstrations, and outcomes to stakeholders and leadership. 
  • Ensure stakeholder expectations are managed throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Agile Delivery & Team Collaboration
  • Facilitate Agile delivery practices including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and   retrospectives. 
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and achievable. 
  • Assist Product Owners in maintaining a well-prioritised and actionable backlog. 
  • Promote collaboration across teams to ensure efficient delivery of solutions. 
  • Encourage continuous improvement through feedback, retrospectives, and process refinement.

 

Broadcast Operations & Live Delivery
  • Coordinate project delivery requirements for live broadcast events and production schedules. 
  • Work with broadcast operations teams to ensure systems, graphics, and data feeds are prepared for live environments. 
  • Support testing, rehearsal, and readiness activities prior to live broadcasts. 
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating operational risks that may impact live production. 
  • Ensure smooth coordination between engineering teams and broadcast operators.

 

Governance, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Track and report on project effort, timelines, and outcomes. 
  • Identify project risks early and  implement mitigation strategies. 
  • Ensure project documentation and processes are consistently maintained. 
  • Contribute to improving project management practices, workflows, and standards across the organisation. 
  • Support the ongoing refinement of Agile delivery frameworks and project management methodologies.
